About Mary Quinn

Mary Quinn was born in Ireland into an artistic family, her Grandfather and Uncle were sculptors. She started off as a painter in her twenties, studying with Kenneth Webb the Irish Landscape Artist. It was only after marriage and 3 daughters that her attention inevitably turned to Sculpture. It took less than a year to convince her that working with clay gave her that "I have come home feeling". After studying the works of Rodin she spent the next 20 years perfecting her portrait skills

Exhibition History of Mary Quinn

Mary Quinn has been exhibiting her sculptures since 1989 in London, Ireland and New York in group and one man shows.

Specializing in Portraiture she was commissioned to sculpt over 60 Portrait Busts in Bronze and the odd life size statue.

One of the most exciting moments of her sculpting career was at the unveiling of her Bronze Life Size Statue of the Founder of Methodism, John Wesley. There was an invited audience of 400 Dignitaries flown in to Norfolk Virginia from 5 states of the USA (the event took over a year to plan) and Dr Donald English flown in from England to be the Keynote Speaker.

There were also 4 Bishops, a Judge and a Methodist Choir surrounding the statue. After the unveiling Mary became a minor Celebrity as 400 people lined up for her to autograph the program.
She spent an amazing week in Virginia as guest of Robert and Sara Boyd who commissioned the Statue, being chauffeured to Dinners, Galas, Shows and Museums and taken out on their Whaling Yacht and generally being treated like Royalty

"The problem of contemporary sculpture and the garden is one which has rankled in my mind for years. It is usually resolved through a process of inversion-that is turning it into sculpture in the garden as against garden sculpture. By that I mean the sculptor takes over the garden as an open exhibition gallery, of which the focus is their creation, to which the world of nature merely provides the frame. The Idea that sculpture is a contributory element to an overall'mise en scene',in which, sometimes its role may be incedental rather than central, has been lost.In this we have seen the betrayall of the great tradition of garden sculpture, one which was unashamed at being decorative or delightful."

Customer comment on 'Forest fairy (figurative bronze Dancer Contemporary statue statuette)' by Plamen Dimitrov
Dear Peter (ArtParkS), Plamen (artist) Just today the package with the sculpture ”Forest Fairy” has arrived. Safe, perfectly packed. I must say “Forest Fairy” is really beautiful, great! I like her very much, her hands, her emotional dance, feelings hidden in her body. Thank you for filling my home with beauty. I wish you both a lot of enthusiasm for marvellous work you do.
